IN THE SAND Attire: Beach Formal.Think polished but relaxed — elegant enough for a wedding, comfortable enough for sand and sun. For him: Dress shirt or linen button-down, dress or suit pants, or linen trousers. Ties and jackets are optional.For her: A sundress, midi or maxi dress, or dressy separates in light, breathable fabrics. Wedge sandals or flat shoes are recommended — heels tend to sink in the sand!

EVENING RECEPTION: September 19th at 6:00pmSea Pines Country ClubOutdoor Cocktail PartyIndoor Dinner and Dancing Attire: FormalCountry club formal for the evening — but no need to overthink it. Black tie is optional. If you're joining us for the beach ceremony earlier in the day, you're welcome to wear the exact same outfit to the reception, with one simple addition: gentlemen, please add a coat and tie for the evening. That said, if you'd rather freshen up or change into something new for the evening, please do! It's entirely up to you — there's no expectation either way. For him: Whatever you wore to the ceremony, plus a coat and tie. Or, if you're changing, a suit or sport coat with a tie and dress trousers works beautifully — a tuxedo is also welcome if that's your style, but by no means required. The Groom will not be in a tuxedo. For her: Your daytime dress is perfect as-is. Or, if you'd like a change of scenery, an elegant cocktail dress or evening gown is a great fit for the country club setting. Shoes: Feel free to trade sandals for your favorite dress shoes now that we're off the sand.

On a warm July night, Carla and Dan met at Wolf Trap intending to listen to the NSO and watch Toy Story. Instead, they scandalized all the young families around them by loudly talking of attachment psychology and how their lives had proven or disproven the theory.

Love is lovelier...  the Second Time around

Fast forward one year – another summer night at Wolf Trap, after some fits and starts. Carla and Dan met again for a James Taylor concert.

This time, between "How Sweet it Is to be Loved by You" and "You've Got a Friend," our lovebirds knew love was here to stay.

...and this group must somehow form a family...

Now four years later, Carla and Dan ask you to join us at Hilton Head's North Forest Beach to be part of our wedding community as we consecrate our commitment to each other in the presence of our family and beloved friends.

We have chosen Hilton Head as the place to celebrate our wedding with friends and family. Before meeting Dan, Carla had bought a house in Hilton Head and made it her permanent home once her kids went to college. Now, Carla also lives in Bethesda, MD with Dan and his family. Hilton Head is a special place to us, our family and our friends.

Our Story

HILTON HEAD AIRPORT (HHH) has direct flights to DC, NY, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Philly and Charlotte. SAVANNAH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SAV) is a convenient one hour away with even more direct flights.

AIRPORTS

There are many houses and condos available on Hilton Head Island through AirBNB and VRBO. Ideal location would be on the South end of the Island (i.e. Sea Pines, Coligny, North Forest Beach, South Forest Beach or Palmetto Dunes).Tip: Most houses in Hilton Head are managed by local vacation companies. If you find a house on AirBNB, it is often cheaper to rent the house directly from the local vacation company (and bypass AirBNB and VRBO). In addition, there are a number of hotels on the Island. Some hotels are listed below. (Please note that we do not have one designated wedding hotel, although I do know a number of people are staying at the Omni, the Westin and The Courtyard by Marriott).

No room block reserved. Reservations can be made online. Nice hotel on the beach. Convenient to the Ceremony, Reception and Friday Night Party. Transportation Provided to Events.Note: As of July 5, the Omni is fully booked. Check back later for cancellations.

Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort

The Hilton is on the beach, close to the Omni and central to all of the weekend's events. No room block reserved. I understand the Omni might be sold out for the weekend, so the Hilton would be another convenient choice.

Hilton Beachfront Resort and Spa Hilton Head Island

No room block reserved. Reservations can be made online. Nice hotel on the beach at the northern part of the Island. Convenient to the Friday Night Party.

The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa

Room Block for Wedding. The Hotel is across the street from the beach. Convenient location for the Ceremony (there will be a shuttle to the Ceremony across the street). Also convenient to the Reception and the Friday Night Welcome Party. Transportation Provided to Events.

Courtyard by Marriott Hilton Head Island

No room block reserved. Reservations can be made online. Very nice hotel in Sea Pines. Convenient to the Reception.

The Inn & Club at Harbour Town

Room Block for Wedding. The Hotel is on the beach. Convenient location between the locations for the Ceremony, Reception and the Friday Night Welcome Party.

Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island

Travel & Accommodations

Ali is Dan's 16 year old daughter.  A great artist and avid athlete, she's a junior at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Maryland.  She'd love to tell you about the concerts she went to last summer and this fall.

Allison Manatt

Catie is Dan's 14 year old daughter; remarkably, the same age as her twin brother, Luke.  Catie is dour, humorless and socially withdrawn.  (Fact Check: False). She still thinks Carla and Dan's ceremony should be at Madison Square Garden.

Caitlin Manatt

Luke is Dan's 14 year old son, who will always gloat that he is 14 minutes older than his twin sister Catie.  If you see him wedding weekend, ask him about how he got his boat driving license and improved his fishing skills at camp in July.

Luke Manatt

Maya is Carla’s 24 year old daughter and Vikram’s twin sister. During her school years in Virginia, Maya brought fear and despair to her hoops opponents and dance competitors, but these days brings high tech empathy and hope to her psychology clients in the Bay Area.  Her favorite person in the world is Mittens, sister cat of Muffin.

Maya Srinivasan

Vikram is Carla’s 24 year old son.  He works for an Artificial Intelligence start up in San Francisco – a dying industry in a back water town.  But his heart belongs to basketball and to Baba, the estranged cousin cat of Mittens and Muffin. Vikram is happy that his twin sister, Maya, who accompanied him to college will also be working in San Francisco.
